Tonal Tuesday: Why the fuck is there vomit on my cellphone? – Johny the 'dont puke on your phone while you masturbate to the picture of a cough medicine' Northern Hairy-nosed Wooly Wombat

I didn’t pick the song title, and I’m honestly not sure how to describe this song; I’ve never been one to divide music into genres. Call it noisecore or whatever. I don’t care.

The song is available here, the entire album is here. The reason I’m linking instead of embedding is that it’s 18MB, which goes over the limit for tindeck and the php.ini setting for WordPress’s audio upload feature (which I just discovered and might use from now on in case the videos I use get taken down) limits audio uploads to 7MB on DreamHost.

Tonal Tuesday: Nightwish – Stone People

Nightwish is well-known for symphonic opera; Stone People isn’t one of those songs. It’s actually rather relaxing and features very little except for a woodwind and the sound of a deep masculine voice chanting.

Tonal Tuesday: Van Canto – Wishmaster

Reedileedeedileedeedilee DUM DUM DUM

(bonus points for the seriousface at 2:03, he is SO FUCKING INTO THIS)

Tonal Tuesday: OCRemix – Scrambled Eggman

Here’s another OCRemix; in contrast with the first one I posted, it’s more metal instead of electronic and space-y.

Tonal Tuesday: Iji – Tor

This Tonal Tuesday comes with a bonus video game recommendation, since the song is from the soundtrack to the excellent freeware game Iji. Iji is the story of a young 15-year-old girl who, armed with nanotechnology, basically has to singlehandedly defend the earth from invasion by an alien species. I can’t really say much more without spoiling the plot, so just enjoy this final boss theme.

Tonal Tuesday: Anberlin – Godspeed

Yes, I know Anberlin is kind of generic alt-rock. Yes, I know some have described them as a Christian band. I don’t particularly care; I’ve listened to some of their songs, and I like it; it’s not like their lyrics are all about “PRAISE THE LORD GAWD JAY-SUS” or something. No embed this time, sorry, EMI is a bunch of dicks.

Tonal Tuesday: Polysics – Electric Surfing Go Go

Anybody who says this was posted on Thursday is a filthy liar.

Polysics doesn’t really fall into any one genre; they’re this sort of electronic, new-wave pop rock. They call themselves “technicolor pogo punk”, which is pretty much as accurate as any other sort of description I can think of.

Tonal Tuesday: OCRemix – DarXide Don't Lose Yourself OCRemix

Yes, I know a lot of this is electronic-y or not mainstream rock/whatever. I like it. It’s my blog.

As the video says, this is from the OverClocked ReMix project, which is dedicated to remixes of video game music. They’ve got torrents of all of their releases (since they amount to several gigabytes!), which you can find here, near the bottom of the torrent list; don’t be surprised if a couple more find their way into future Tonal Tuesdays.. This is from an obscure game called DarXide for the old Sega 32X. The voice track isn’t in the original, but I think it’s a nice touch. You can download the song here, from the official OC ReMix site.

In case you’re wondering, the lyrics are:

I have travelled across the sky;
A thousand million light years past the edge of time.
I take for granted what nobody can;
To travel far beyond is just my master plan.

I’m flying alone.
Don’t cry, or I’ll never get home.

Tonal Tuesday: Dark Suns – The Chameleon Defect

This Tonal Tuesday, I thought I’d do something a little different and go with some Dark Suns. If you haven’t heard of them, they’re this weird sort of progressive metal band. This is from their latest album, Grave Human Genuine.

Tonal Tuesday: Venetian Snares – Ghetto Body Buddy

More breakcore coming to you on this Tonal Tuesday, this time from Venetian Snares.
